Face Contouring

Face contouring with Dermal Fillers: Cheeks, Chin, Jawline & More…

What Is A Dermal Filler?

What Is A Dermal Filler?

With a reputation for being an alternative to a surgical facelift, people are often surprised by what can and can’t be achieved with this treatment. As well as filling-in smokers-lines, marionette lines and other wrinkles, these injections of Hylauronic Acid can be used to re-shape your face – giving definition to your jawline, slimming a chin, or lifting cheekbones.

I would always suggest a full consultation so I can understand the effect you want to achieve.  Together we can discuss the options and come up with a personal treatment plan.

How Do They Work?

As we get older our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, both of which keep our skin looking young. Fillers replace lost volume to your face, so that lines are smoothed and your look has a more youthful appearance.

The generally accepted age when this begins is around your mid twenties. Your collagen and elastin levels then decline at approximately 2% per year. Your body will have stopped producing it altogether by your late twenties!

You might first start noticing this as visible naso-labial (nose to mouth) lines, or marionette (mouth to chin) lines or just a bit of hollowness where your skin was once more ‘peachy’.  Whatever it is you are looking to achieve, let’s have a chat and agree what’s best for you.  I have a number of common questions covered in the FAQ section below to get you started.

Dermal Fillers Frequently Asked Questions:

Dermal facial fillers are small injections of gel, typically made up of Hyaluronic Acid, that can be used to fill in deep lines & wrinkles and add volume & structure to soft tissue.

You can have the treatment in different parts of your face: around the eye, cheeks, mouth, nose & jawline. It’s also used for the effective treatment of ‘smokers-lines’. Depending on the area to be treated, I’ll use a different type of filler, they come in varying consistencies to achieve the effect you are looking for – but don’t worry, I can explain more in your consultation if you are interested!

You’ll also find this product used for lip enhancement where lip filler is administered directly into the lip tissue for a more plump fuller effect. Or Tear Through,  where the specially dedicated filler Teoysal Redentsity II is administered under eye area.

All the dermal fillers are semi-long lasting and made from hyaluronic acid, which breaks down and is absorbed into the skin after around 6 to 18 months. Everyone absorbs HA in different way, some people will notice faster breaking down proces than others.

You should be able to spot the difference immediately, however the final effect will be noticeable after 3-4 weeks, after the filler settles down and the swelling goes completely. In some cases small correction is required, so I advise you to contact me to arrange a review and 3-4 weeks.

Many people find this procedure more comfortable than expected, and our dermal fillers contain a local anesthetic (Lidocaine). You will likely feel a light sting on your skin during the injection procedure.

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience slight redness, swelling or tenderness around the area that has been treated. You may also experience raised or inflamed skin as well as itching in the treatment area. These side effects are completely natural and tend to subside in a few days for the vast majority of patients who experience them. On some occasions, patients may also bruise. However, all of these symptoms will gradually disappear over a period of 7-14 days.

We use a few different brands of Dermal Fillers (Revolax, Stylage Teosyal, Restylane & more. All are made of the highest quality Hyaluronic Acid, and allow you to bear all with confidence via a treatment like no others. We choose different fillers that are specially dedicated for specific procedures and areas.
