Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment - PRP

Pretty Simple

What is Vampire Facelift?

Vampire Facelift is personalized therapy that uses Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), that is collected from our own blood. It is an injection-based treatment designed to reduce the signs of ageing. Small quantities of the patient’s blood are processed and then reinjected into problem skin areas to repair, volumize, and rejuvenate the face

How doeas the PRP Facelift work?

A small amount of blood is extracted from the patient. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge which separates the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma. The platelets contain a high volume of proteins (growth factors) which can heal injured or damaged tissue and skin.

The platelet-rich plasma is then reinjected into specific problem skin areas of the face. Once injected, the PRP releases the growth factors which can reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increase facial volume.

Visible signs of ageing are caused by decreased collagen production. PRP therapy can stimulate collagen growth and help to reduce the signs of ageing. The production of pre-adipocyte cells is also stimulated during this procedure. These cells can convert into fat, which helps to contour and volumize the natural shape of the face.

PRP Treatment Frequently Asked Questions

Each session lasts approximately 60-90 minutes. Patients are expected to see gradual improvements following their session and we recommend 2-3 top-up sessions following your first treatment within 3-4 weeks apart. The course of treatments can be repeated twice a year

After a consultation your practitioner will draw your blood. This is done in a similar way to when you have blood taken for testing at the doctor’s office.

The blood will then be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet plasma from the red blood cells using one of the branded systems described.

Any makeup on the skin will be removed using a wipe, and antiseptic will be applied to the injection site. For client’s comfort the topical anesthetic can be applied to the skin of the injection site for 20 min.

The PRP will then be injected into the skin, with aseptic technique, in the desired area using a professional micro-needling device and also with a very fine needle. Injections will be given multiple times in multiple locations in order to give an overall improvement to the area.

The treatment usually takes 60-90 minutes. It is very important that patients eat and drink a lot of fluids before attending their appointment. This will enable the blood to be withdrawn more easily.

Face, Neck & Decolletage

PRP therapy can be used on the face, particularly around the eyes, mouth and nose, the backs of the hands, scars and all over the body, more commonly the décolletage and even the knees to give skin a more youthful and radiant appearance.

When the platelet plasma is injected into the skin, the platelets release their growth factors. The growth factors stimulate other cells surrounding the injection site, plumping them up and causing them to increase in volume. The platelet plasma sends out signals to other cells in the body when it is injected, telling them to rush forward to the injection site.

One cell that is stimulated during the process is the fibroblast cell, which is the cell type that creates collagen. Collagen is what gives skin a youthful appearance. As we age, collagen is produced less and less, causing wrinkles and fine lines in the skin, and therapies such as PRP therapy that stimulate collagen production can counteract this. Another cell stimulated during the process is the pre-adipocyte cell, which is a cell type that can convert into a fat cell, which is especially important in the face to fill out lines and to contour the face.

The downtime following the treatment is mild, and you are able to return to normal daily activities 24h after the procedure.

Side effects are minimal but can include mild shedding, looking slightly sunburned and in some very rare cases light bruising, but these usually fade within 24-48 hours, if not a few hours.

Your treated skin should not be exposed to the sun, tanning bed, heat, hot water or sauna for 5-7 days. It is extremely important to protect your skin with at least SPF 30 at all times. Please avoid makeup for at least 24h but the best will be if you don’t use any makeup for 2-3 days.
